Athena Naylor
Cartoonist|Writer|Illustrator
Athena grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and now lives and works in Washington, D.C. She specializes in autobiographical comics and illustration. Her work has been featured in Nat. Brut and The Washington Post, and in 2021 she received an Honorable Mention for the Chicago Alternative Comics Expo (CAKE) Cupcake Award. In 2023 she received a Wherewithal Research Grant from the Washington Project for the Arts (WPA).
Athena received a Master’s in Art History from The George Washington University in 2017 and, unsurprisingly, wrote her thesis on comics. More of her writing involving comics can be found here and here, and more of her arts writing can be found here.
